Self Guided Hunt

Denali & Glacier Trips
(coastal glaciers via cruise)

Starting Point: Fairbanks -- We will start our trip in Fairbanks. Before we depart, however, we’ll take some time to experience the town and its culture. Among our many activities: river paddleboat tour on the Chena river, museum tours, and dining at unique restaurants.
Stop One: Denali National Park -- We will visit Denali National Park to view the wildlife and see Mt. McKinley, North America’s tallest mountain at over 20,000 feet. Then, when we’re ready, we’ll continue our journey to the coastal town of Valdez. On the way, we will travel along the Great Alaskan Range. Two of my favorite photo stops are Horsetail Falls and Worthington Glacier (hiking and exploring are available on the glacier).

Stop Two: Valdez -- There is much to see and do in Valdez. Its rich history and current commercial industry offer a vibrant array of attractions honoring both its past and its present. During the Gold Rush Era, Valdez served as the port of entry for gold seekers heading to Alaska’s interior. The current town, located four miles west of the original, replaced the original site, which was destroyed by the Good Friday earthquake in 1964. The highlight of this leg of our journey is a coastal cruise to the beautiful Columbian Glacier, a whole day trip to view whales and the glacier.

Stop Three: Chitina -- We will observe a native fish wheel harvesting red and king salmon on the Copper River. Red salmon is considered the world’s best salmon delicacy. Upon your request, the salmon can be filleted and shipped overnight to your home.
Stop Four: Black Rapids Glacier -- We will continue along the Great Alaskan Range with a stop at the Gulkana Glacier before staying at one of the most scenic lodges in Alaska.

Special Notes -- On this trip, we will stop at many unique towns and villages exemplifying authentic Alaska. We will also stop at many fantastic eateries to experience great Alaskan dining. I know all the best spots to gather souvenirs and gifts to take back home. A continuous highlight of the trip will be up-close viewing of awe-inspiring wildlife framed by the majestic mountains of Alaska in the background.

Please contact me to discuss the various trip options. I will provide you with all of the details to help guide your decisions.
